Louisville woman Arielle Clark was featured this week by broadcasting network NBC for a project she's had in the works for years: a sober space in the LGBTQ social scene.
Clark, 28, came up with the business idea for Sis Got Tea when she realized there weren't a lot of queer spaces in Louisville outside of bars.
"When I look around at LGBTQ life now, it's super alcohol-centric, super white-centric, and revolves around a party lifestyle," Clark told The Courier Journal in September. "I want to create a safe space not just for black LGBTQ but for sober people as well, and people who may not necessarily go to bars."

Clark launched a Kickstarter campaign last fall to make Sis Got Tea become a reality and has raised more than $10,000 from 207 backers. She hosted her first event in January with Trouble Bar and told NBC she plans to continue hosting events while she raises enough money to open a storefront.
Sis Got Tea has two free events scheduled on eventbrite.com during February, including a Valentine's-themed open mic night on Feb. 11 and a dance workshop on Feb. 22, which has sold out.
